Working at Centre Céramique
Does the idea of working with culture every day appeal to you? Come work at Centre Céramique! We offer the most diverse positions. Would you prefer something hands-on, or are you more of a background person? Customer service, for example, or at one of our museums? A job at the Library or a more overarching function? Read on to learn more about what we have to offer.
Maastricht Museum is part of the Municipality of Maastricht. It is a large organisation with a staff of around 1,700 filling many different positions, all of whom are dedicated—directly or indirectly—to Maastricht. Together with 115 employees in the Centre Céramique organisational unit, we work for Maastricht Museum, Natuurhistorisch Museum Maastricht, Maastricht City Library, Cultuurmakers Maastricht and Kaleidoscoop.
Our job vacancies as well as those of other organisational units may be found on the municipality’s special job site: werkenvoormaastricht.nl.
Cultural institutions like ours cannot survive without volunteers. Dozens of people are active on a voluntary basis at Centre Céramique, and help people at the library, for example. They take charge of the Natural History Museum’s Cretaceous collections. And a whole lot more. All these volunteers have signed a volunteer agreement with the Municipality of Maastricht.

We offer a variety of internships for college and university students. It makes us really happy to see young talent in training. They bring a fresh perspective and up-to-date knowledge and in return, we help them develop. This means real participation. Taking initiative. Being curious. Asking questions. Offering your opinion. And doing all this as a fully fledged member of the team.

Centre Céramique’s library has an extensive collection of around 550,000 books and DVDs, and new materials are being added all the time. In the interest of ensuring we have enough room, items that are borrowed less often are taken out of the collection.
Each year, we offer four to six traineeships for secondary school students aged 15 and up to give us a hand with this. Before you start, we provide you with a detailed explanation of what you will be doing. You will also be assigned a regular supervisor. The traineeship is for 40 hours, and you must complete it in three months. You will do this during the normal library hours.
